Top Design Trends For 2013
-Gray color schemes in the kitchen and bath have dramatically escalated since 2010 and particularly over the past year
Used currently in 55% of kitchens and 56% of bathrooms
-Quartz tops after a slight decline from last year have surfaced as a clear trendsetter this year, a very close second to granite
-The transitional style kitchen has remained a trend from last year, clearly surpassing the traditional style home, a long standing favorite until 2012
- The preference for the glass backsplash has dramatically grown over the past three years. Natural stone tile has shown a 15% decrease in the last year.
- LED Lighting has been by NKBA member designers in the U.S. and Canada. As consumer awareness of energy efficiency has risen, it comes as no surprise that LED lighting is being specified by designers and homeowners alike.
- Growing in popularity are touch activated faucets. They have seen a 12% increase since last year. Remaining number one are pull-out faucets and pot filler faucets take spot number two.
- Satin Nickel is on the rise as well as bronze and oil rubbed bronze which have also seen a rise in the past year.
